What is the intention of having two SMA output connectors at the RadiGen model RGN2006A?

The RadiGen® model RGN2006A is intended for combined conducted and radiated immunity testing applications. The first RF output covers a frequency range from 9 kHz to 400 MHz, which covers most common conducted immunity standards like IEC61000-4-6, ISO11452-4 (BCI) and MIL-STD-461 (CS114). The second RF output covers a frequency range from 9 kHz to 6 GHz fully covering the requirements for radiated immunity testing in accordance to the IEC61000-4-3 standard. As both ranges have a separate RF output, there is no need to switch in between these different tests.

Can the RadiGen be used for Radar Pulse testing as specified in the Automotive OEM standard (like Ford, PSA or GM)?

The Ford FMC1278 standard requires pulse modulation using a packet of 50 pulses every second with a pulse duration of 3 µs and a pulse repetition rate of 300 Hz. This complex Radar Pulse packet can be generated with the RadiGen signal generators using the ‘Gated Pulse Modulation’ function.

Does the RadiGen generate any ‘glitches’ on the RF output?

This is a common problem with signal generators using step attenuators at the output stage. During changing of the RF carrier level, these step attenuators can cause unwanted overshoot (glitches) at the output signal, which could cause damage to the EUT or RF amplifier in the EMC test setup. The RadiGen uses a fully solid-state RF output design without step attenuators, resulting in a 100% monotone output signal without any unwanted overshoot and glitches.
